I found at ActorsAlliance.com. I was also cast in an

CASTING
CALL FOR SHELLY
THE
STORY: What could be one of our greatest modern dramatic
works, BURIED CHILD is Shepard at his finest and most profound.
A brilliant, funny, tragic, yet ultimately redemptive artistic
presentation of the universal struggle with our “dark
Side”. This family, ill
at ease in its own skin, stuns, surprises and entertains with
its spontaneity and existential
truths while seething with barely repressed rage and shame
born of its long smoldering, deep-seated wounds.
SHELLY : In her 20's, bright vivacious,
with the sexual insecurity and presentation of a teenager,
is the observer/outsider in the play, the audience's eyes,
heart and wounded innocence. She is Vince’s
girlfriend and has been brought along on his odyssey into
the past expecting to meet
his relatives who, she has been told, are a typical, friendly
American family. Instead, she is met by a frightening group
who insult and degrade her and don’t seem to recognize
Vince. While Initially intimidated, scared and struggling to
comprehend the madness, Shelly is psychologically the most
centered of the group. "I’ll do whatever
I have to do to survive
" Including attempts to care for and nurture Tilden
and Dodge, and finally is the one who transcends the decadent
draw of this primal crowd and escapes.
Remainder of Character Roles THAT HAVE
BEEN CAST include:
DODGE - Ranting, half blind, half drunk grandfather (Carries
the guilt,shame)
HALIE - Deceitful, conniving grandmother who goes on drinking/sex
bouts
with local minister;(Queen Bee Poster child for family Narcissism)
TILDEN - son,an All-American footballer
now innocent savant longing for clarity and resolution (The
destroyed Innocence and longing for redemption)
BRADLEY - son, who lost one leg to a chain
saw(carries on the the legacy of rage, cruelty and emasculation)
VINCE - Tilden's son, the prodigal (healthy ?) grandson
returns but no
one recognizes or remembers him, (embodiment of sanity & reason
or the Buried Child himself? )
FATHER DEWIS - Halie's minister (drinking/sex
sidekick,smothered in shame)

ABOUT THE SHOW:
“Big River, the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” originated
in its current form right here in San Diego at the La Jolla

the legendary Des McAnuff, “Big River” went on
to Broadway where it won 7 Tony Awards including “Best
Musical.” Set in the early 19th century, the story
tells the classic Mark Twain tale of the wild and independent
Huckleberry Finn and his escapades along the Mississippi
river. Huck is joined by his friend, the runaway slave “Jim” who
wants to escape to freedom. The story is full of humor, adventure
and humanity; and the score boasts some of the best solos
and duets in musical theatre.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:
California Youth Conservatory Theatre
is casting for the Summer production of “Big River, the Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn." We are seeking young performers
of all types for this fun and memorable musical. We double-cast
all principal roles with a Youth Cast (elementary and middle-school)
and a Young Actors Cast (high school and college), so there
are plenty of opportunities available. Also, this production
will feature several professional actors who will serve as ‘Teaching
Artists’ and mentors for the program participants,
so the participants will have an opportunity to work side-by-side
with Equity and Non-Equity pros! Rehearsals will be in San
Diego, in the Serra Mesa and Carmel Valley areas and approximately
one to two weeknights (plus one Saturday afternoon) per week.
For more information on rehearsal schedules, please see our
website: www.cyctheatre.com.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
CALIFORNIA YOUTH CONSERVATORY produces
youth theatre productions of very high quality while at
the same time maintaining a fun, yet structured environment
where young performers can expect to learn something about
stagecraft. We maintain extremely high standards of fairness
and non-political casting. Opportunities are offered on
the basis of an individual’s audition,
attitude and conduct—never on ‘connections’ or ‘favors.’ Our
expectations are high, and so is the quality of our product.
We are very family-oriented and seek the help of parents
whenever possible. Our participants are instructed only by
experienced, bona-fide professionals with impressive resumes
and high levels of skill and achievement.

Diego Repertory Theatre is currently accepting submissions
from union and non-union actors for the San Diego Premier
of Water & Power. All performers are paid.

Latino Males; 1 Latino Boy; and 1 Anglo Male
Gilbert Garcia, “Water” (Latino;
age 33 – 45)
Brother of “Power.” A savvy, progressive California
State Senator from Los Angeles with his eye on a future in
Washington D.C. Well groomed, ambitious and street smart,
Water is among a handful of new California Latino politicians
on the verge of making it to the top of the game.
Asuncion Garcia (Latino; age 40 – 60)
The Father of Gilbert and Gabriel. From the Eastside of LA.
Working class, loves boxing, wears the overalls of a lifetime
employee of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
A tough and loving father.
Norte/Sur (Latino; age 35 – 55)
A wheelchair bound homeboy/vato from the neighborhood who
knows the streets and gang members of LA. He is Power’s
best friend, his backup, his man on the street. Speaks
Spanish and English. A writer and visual artist.
El Musico/Ice Cream Vendor/Custodian/Possible
Understudy (Latino; age 28 – 48)
A powerful, commanding man who can solve any problem. Speaks
Spanish and English. Mexican immigrant.
Deer Dancer/Young Gilbert/Young
Gabriel/Bus Boy (Latino; age 10 -13. Ideally plays 8 – 10
years old onstage)

8- 10 years old. Also plays a young boy who is training as
a Deer Dancer. Must be a strong actor and dancer.
The Fixer (Anglo; age 45 – 65)
Elegant, dangerous, very smooth and very powerful. An omnipotent
figure whose work behind the scenes, often in the middle
of the night, makes him among the most powerful men in
Southern California. Wears a white suit.
The Play
Culture Clash ensemble member Richard Montoya’s
drama is a very funny, tough-minded and penetrating look
at Southern California’s power politics and the Latinos
and Gringos who hold our future in their hands. His new
work is a gripping piece of Southern California noir fiction
in the tradition of Raymond Chandler, Walter Mosley and
the film “Chinatown”. At the center of the
mystery is the power of brotherly love, as two brothers
try to save themselves from the abyss of “realpolitik.”
The Story
A hard working Chicano father, a longtime employee for the
DWP, nicknamed his twin sons Water and Power and taught
them the family motto: there is no power without water,
and no water without power. In 2008, Water has become a
rising star state senator with his eye on Washington; Power
is an honored Police Lieutenant who breaks all the rules.
It has been raining for 17 days and nights.
The brothers are trapped inside Motel Paradise on Sunset
Boulevard. On the eve of an election that could propel Water's
political career into the national fast lane, Power has ignited
a life or death scandal that threatens to derail the lives
and dreams of each of them. The brothers, and the city, are
in trouble.
Water & Power won the Los
Angeles Theatre Critic’s Circle and Ovation Awards
for Best New Play when it premiered in 2006.

shot at finding the love they are looking for themselves and
their children.
"Single Parents", a new
network series, is looking for single
parents who want a second chance at love, but just can't

come first, not their own needs and desires. Those have always
had to wait. Until now.

needed break from the juggling act of being a single parent
as we place their
romantic destiny into their own hands.
Moms and Dads select their favorites, they embark on a bona
fide quest for an emotionally rewarding, successful
relationship? it's the search for a husband and a Father,
a
wife and a Mother.
Single Moms and Dads in their 30's who
want to find love again; and for singles of all types who
are open to dating single
parents. Participants must be legal residents of the U.S.
