COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR - SHAUNA OSTROM

As the AASD Communications Director Shauna is responsible for increasing the organization’s visibility in the community and effectively communicating information regarding AASD to members and the community at large, including but not limited to: writing press releases, creating program literature, acting as press liaison, composing & sending a weekly email newsletter, writing, editing and publishing content for the company website, and creating & maintaining promotional literature. Shauna is also responsible for managing the membership program, including creating and implementing member benefits and incentives, tracking and managing member retention and seeking new members. Spearheading fundraiser events and ongoing fundraising programs. Evaluating needs of members, then developing and implementing new programs accordingly. Increasing organization’s revenues via new & renewed membership, community donations, and coordinating volunteer and community outreach programs.

Prior to AASD over 13 years leadership experience coordinating large-scale events, seminars, and programs for non-profit organization; Trained public speaker; Held positions in customer service, sales, marketing and promotions.  Professional Actress/Singer:  A versatile San Diego performer with credits in Theatre, Musical Theatre and Opera.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from UCLA and a Master’s of Music degree from SDSU, both in Vocal Performance. She has appeared in numerous productions as a resident artist with The Broadway Theatre in Vista and also with companies such as San Diego Opera, Lyric Opera San Diego, UCLA Opera, Westside Opera Workshop, SDSU Opera Theater, Patio Playhouse, Poway Performing Arts Company and her own company Harts Performance Inc. Favorite local credits include Daisy Hilton in the San Diego premiere of "Side Show", Suzy/Lolette in Puccini's "The Swallow" and Isabelle in "A Christmas Carol."  Shauna is also a member of  AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists).

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - SHELLY BRENEMAN

As the Executive Direcrtor Shelly is responsible for the business and administrative tasks and duties necessary to run a not-for-profit arts organization; overseeing the management of the physical space; handling space rentals; addressing all correspondence related to those tasks; creating and executing the organization’s programs; writing grants; creating and maintaining all office forms; creating and maintaining the organization’s filing system; and assisting in public relations and marketing of the organization.

Prior to AASD:  A San Diego based Arts Educator/Administrator she has worked as a Teaching Artist and curriculum writer for San Diego Opera, La Jolla Playhouse, Lyric Opera San Diego, Premiere for kids and J Company and has attended and collaborated on training workshops with VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) for arts programs in the San Diego City Schools.  As an Arts Educator, responsibilities included creating and implementing music and theatre programs for local arts organizations according to California’s Visual and Performing Arts Standards for San Diego City Schools.  In addition to creating programs, she has taught large numbers of adults and students in the areas of vocal technique, musical theatre, music theory and music composition.  As an Arts Administrator she has marketed new programs, trained staff, managed budgets and contracts and planned events and fundraisers. Shelly is a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists and is co-owner and General Director of Harts Performance Inc. 

Professional Actress/Singer:  She has performed locally with Lyric Opera San Diego, San Diego Opera, Cygnet Theatre and as a Resident Artist with Premiere Productions at the Broadway Theater.  Outside of San Diego: Pensacola Opera, Victorian Lyric Opera and Hawaii Opera Theater.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from California State University Fullerton, and her Master of Music degree from University of Hawaii.  Favorite roles include Violet in Side Show, Mrs. Nordstrom in A Little Night Music, Ms. Silverpeal in Impressario and Nina in A Day in Hollywood…A Night in the Ukraine.
