Performing Arts Manager

The Kroc Center School of Performing Arts seeks a highly organized, self-motivated individual to serve as Producing Artistic Director for Kroc Kids, the Joan B. Kroc Junior Theatre Company, and to manage the School of the Arts. Candidates must have excellent communication and multi-tasking skills, as well as previous experience in arts administration and/or children’s theatre.  This position reports to the Program Director.

Specific responsibilities include:  * producing two mainstage musical productions per year * running three summer drama camp programs * managing ongoing theatre, dance and music classes * producing four annual recitals * hiring and managing instructors and production staff * communicating with parents  Qualifications and skills required:  1) Bachelor’s degree, preferably in theatre, 2) previous experience working with children, 3) previous experience in musical theatre production.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.  This is a full time position with full benefits.  Please submit resume and cover letter to brenda.dodge@usw.salvationarmy.org.

Part-time advertising sales person needed for DramaBiz, a national magazine targeting theatre management.  Position is responsible for cultivating a list of provided clients in pre-assigned territory to build relationships and sell display advertising.  Develop understanding of client’s marketing strategies to recommend how they can build awareness of their products and services with DramaBiz Magazine readers.  Set own hours and work from home.  Should possess good phone presence and be self-motivated.  Must have own computer with Internet connection.  Should be able to conduct own Internet research of prospects as well as be able to manage contacts in a database.  Experience in theatre is a must with a base understanding of the technical aspects of theatre. Seasonal Associate Producer

Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit theater corporation, is searching for a Seasonal Associate Producer for our upcoming production of Night Sky written by Susan Yankowitz and Directed by Siobhan Sullivan.
 
This is a seasonal, full-time, project-related position running from July 1, 2008 – September 30, 2008, unless earlier terminated. This is an “at-will” employment position.  Pay is $2,500 per month. The Associate Producer will report to the Artistic Director of Mo`olelo, and will be responsible for all Front-of-House production duties including, but not limited to:
 
Patron Services
• Front of House Management & Customer Service
- Staffing each performance, from two-hours prior to curtain set up to end of performance clean up
- Coordinating and training volunteers and ushers for each performance
- Front of house signage, concessions, playbill inserts, etc
- Handling Reserved and Late Seating at each performance
- Interfacing with audience
- Collecting audience response cards
• Box Office Management
- Phones
- Single ticket reservations
- Group Sales
- Goldstar
- Media and VIP reservations
- Company and Industry comps
- Booking school performances and pre- and post-show workshops
- Staffing box office at each performance-? Preparing Box Office Reports
• Special Events
- Working with volunteers to organize and execute Opening Night Party
- Coordinating front-of-house duties for Sneak Peek
- Coordinating Client Appreciation receptions
- Coordinating Post-Show Speakers in cooperation with Artistic Director
- Coordinating rehearsal room visits for VIPs
• Pre-Show speech if necessary
 
Production/Admin
• Maintaining master production calendar and interfacing with Artistic Team, Board, Media, VIPs and other stakeholders
• Coordinating playwright's travel and accommodations
• Updating patron database as needed
• Assisting Artistic Director with contracts and paperwork as needed
• Prepare rehearsal room in cooperation with Stage Manager
• Prepare Company Welcome Packets in cooperation with Stage Manager and Artistic Director
• Prepare Project Report in cooperation with Artistic Director
• Assist Artistic Director with grant reports and sponsor thank yous
• Staff load-out and strike as needed
• Manage high school intern's duties as needed
 
Marketing, Sales & Outreach
• Organize and execute mailer stuffing
• Online postings and calendar announcements
• Assist Artistic Director with press releases as needed
• Stuff VIP and Media invitations and reservations
• Maintain Media & VIPS lists
• Assist Artistic Director with the assembling of press kits
• Media pitches as needed
• Interface with National Aphasia Association, San Diego Brain Injury Foundation and other partner organizations
• Make appearances to promote the production and ticket sales
• Selling tickets to individuals and groups
• Distributing postcards, flyers and posters
• Assisting Artistic Director with the maintenance of the production Blog
 
Required Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate will be results-oriented and highly organized with exceptional customer service, communication, presentation, and leadership skills. Initiative, teamwork, and the ability to handle multiple tasks are requirements of this position as is a demonstrated track record of event coordination and sales. Must be able to execute planned Mo`olelo activities, obligations and meetings while also creating and developing new opportunities for the company.  Must be able to work cooperatively with the public, management and production participants.

Scenic designer, Stage manager & Board Ops

Compass Theatre is kicking off it's inaugural production with the modern classic, Richard Greenberg's "Three Days of Rain," directed by Rosina Reynolds. We are currently looking for a
scenic designer, stage manager, as well as board ops. This production runs from May 23-June 9.

For the stage manager position rehearsals run April 21, Monday - Friday from 3:30-6:30, with one
day on the weekend. Times to be determined. There is pay.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Sledgehammer Theatre is in urgent need of both a stage manager and run crew member for our fast approaching production of "Miss Julie" directed by Josh Chambers.  Techs this weekend, dress rehearsals and previews next week, and opens on March 29.  Thu-Sun shows until strike on April 27.  Both positions start immediately.  Run crew stipend $300. Cygnet Theatre is seeking outgoing and enthusiastic people with good organizational skills for a part-time position as a Box Office Representative. Person would be responsible for assisting patrons with ticket and subscription sales and providing customer service and information via telephone, email, and in person. 1-2 years Box Office or other sales experience preferred. This position requires excellent customer service skills and a good understanding of basic computer skills. 20-25 hrs available per week. Some evening and weekend shifts required.

Sledgehammer Theatre is looking for a Master Carpenter/ Technical Director to build our upcoming set for “Miss Julie.”  Candidates must have access to own equipment and work space.  Load in is on March 17, into the 10th Avenue Theatre.  The production opens March 29th and strikes April 25th.  The set consists of a floor and columns, with no moving scenery.
